Ella Littwitz

 

Ella Littwitz was born in 1982, in Haifa, Israel. She is a laureate of the Higher Institute for Fine Arts (HISK) in Ghent and has aBFA in Photography from the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design.

Littwitz’s artistic research revolves around various domains such as archaeology, history, botany, culture and politics. In her work, plants are often employed as elements of a political archive, a tool to resuscitate lost historic and cultural information making it accessible to future generations.

Littwitz has received the Igal Ahouvi Art Collection "Most Promising Artist Award" in 2013, the Botín Foundation Scholarship, and The Mitchell Presser Excellence Award. Her work has been exhibited in the Special Program of the 6th Moscow Biennial, the 12th Istanbul Biennial, Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art and the Jerusalem Artists' House, Zona Maco Art Fair and Art Brussels.
