Civilian

Jordan Seiler’s exhibition Civilian is now open at Harlan Levey Projects.

This collage ‘Titan Smash’ is made with plexiglass and stolen advertising signage and reflects Seiler’s disregard for the private property rights of such advertising corporations.

Civilian is open until December 16th 2017.

Dealing with questions related to public space, civic rights and visual pollution, aspects of Seiler’s long running project have been discussed in Slate, The Guardian, The New York Times, Hyperallergic and others, inspiring projects like “Art in Ad Places”, “Subvertisers International” and Brandalism. His exhibition “Civilian” includes works made with materials that have been removed from advertising infrastructures in New York and Brussels as well as images and AR from an ongoing series of international interventions in public space.

This Slate magazine article is a great introduction to his studio and practice.
