"Declaration of Principles" draws on the Mnemosyne panels by Aby Warburg to reflect the pictorial referentiality of the iconic moment featuring Yasser Arafat, Bill Clinton, and Yitzhak Rabin during the signing of the Declaration of Principles on Interim Self-Government Arrangements on September 13, 1993, in Washington, D.C. Using both moving and static found footage, this work recontextualizes the political staging within an altar-like polyptych, revealing both evident and subtle connections. It deconstructs the pictorial authenticity of this event, which, to achieve historical iconicity, draws on an iconography and rhetoric mediating between concordia and maphorion, extending back to classical antiquity.

"Declaration of Principles" examines the temporality, mediation, and intertextuality of images, fundamentally questioning the singularity and originality not only of this specific scene but of imagery as a whole.
