The "Verticals" are gold leaf paintings on wooden panels derived from newspaper photographs of the deceased. Originally horizontal press images are reoriented vertically, lifting them into gestures of recognition and remembrance. Some panels include dried flower petals from the artist’s garden as subtle signs of continuity and renewal.
Drawn from the "Human Interest" section of "Provisoria" and grouped as single, mass, and child, the works address individual, collective, and innocent loss. Their upright stance marks a rupture in everyday time, transforming ephemeral images into sustained acts of attention and care.
