The Glenden series, a dyslexic play on “legends,” layers newspaper images on both sides of a sheet so that, when held to light, overlapping photographs generate unexpected third images. Meaning emerges from coincidence and collision. As Verhaeghe notes, “1 plus 1 is 3.”

Developed from printed newspapers in the pre digital era, the works foreground the physicality of newsprint and the cultural differences embedded in media imagery. Through layering and transparency, overlooked fragments become fragile new presences.
