"VideoSculpture XXXI (Pozner)" originates from a filmed conversation with Leonard Pozner, whose private loss became the target of public conspiracy. In the installation, Pozner’s image appears only in unstable fragments, partially erased, digitally masked, and rendered through deepfake technology. His voice remains, clear and steady, recounting the personal and collective damage caused by misinformation.
The presentation is reduced to essentials: bright white screens without polarizing filters make the image unreadable to the naked eye. The viewer perceives it only in shifting glimpses while moving through space. Presence depends on movement; visibility becomes conditional.
Part of Van der Auwera’s ongoing VideoSculpture series, "VideoSculpture XXXI (Pozner) "continues his exploration of media systems, image ethics, and the politics of representation. It reflects on how truth is mediated and how images can both reveal and protect.
