"Prentenkabinet" is a series of works that precedes "Provisoria". The works consist of a twice-photocopied image of the Elephant Man, mechanically reproduced until the figure becomes both distanced and intensified. Through repetition, the body shifts from portrait to trace - at once present and estranged.
Deeply marked by David Lynch’s The Elephant Man and intrigued by the scientific gaze that framed the historical figure, Verhaeghe reflects here on vulnerability, spectacle, and exposure.
