In addition to sculptures and installation, the exhibition “Steps & Marches” also featured collages and paintings that dealt with various stadium stampedes including those in Belgium, England, Ghana and ancient Pompeii. “The Stone Steps of the East Sector,” is inspired by the historically authoritative narrative of how such disaster erupted in Russia during the early 1980s. While looking at how the crowd brought mayhem as a singular body, the series also nods to individual athletes who shaped society through political actions in the stadium including Zvonimir Boban, Colin Kaepernick, Tommie Smith & John Carlos and others.
