Rebecca Jane Arthur
Biography
Rebecca Jane Arthur works mainly with moving images and text, often departing from personal stories that highlight socio-political contexts and histories, giving particular attention to class politics, education and women’s experiences. Arthur was a 2019 resident of the WIELS Contemporary Art Centre (Brussels, BE), and is currently a doctoral researcher at KASK & Conservatorium (Ghent, BE), where she teaches in the visual arts department and lectures on art and feminist theory. Her work has been screened in a number of institutions and festivals, including the Centre for Fine Arts - Bozar (Brussels, BE), the Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin (Paris, FR), the Austrian Film Museum (Vienna, AT), Kunsthalle Exnergasse (Vienna, AT), the Istanbul Experimental Film Festival (Istanbul, TR), and many others. Her work has been acquired by argos centre for audiovisual arts (Brussels, BE) and The Fassiaty Video Art Foundation (Paris, FR). Arthur is a co-founder of the Brussels-based, artist-run production and distribution platform elephy.
